Jacques Ranciere is one of our favorite philosophers at CT. The author of “Disagreement” and “Hatred of Democracy” has been a vocal critic of his Marxist peers, accusing them of being standard-bearers for a modern day anti-democratic Platonism.

In his Ten Theses on Politics, Ranciere succinctly notes most of the major points in his oeuvre. Detailing the difference between “the politics of the police” and “democracy,” Ranciere creates a philosophical framework for thinking democracy.
