Slavoj Zizek, always one for tact, interjected his “Love as a Political Category” speech at this year’s iteration of the Subversive Film Festival with a bit of sacrilegious humor. But this time Zizek wasn’t waxing poetic about the immanent takeover of flesh lights within our commodified sex lives. Instead, the Slovenian critical theorist recounting a joke a Palestinian Christian told him about Jesus losing his virginity to Mary Magdalene.
