Kshama Sawant is one of Seattle’s newest City Council members, but she stands out among the rest for one reason. Sawant is a self-proclaimed socialist, who campaigned on a pro-Occupy, anti-corporate platform that promised to fight for $15 minimum wage and the unionization of companies like Starbucks. She defeated a Democratic incumbent in the most recent election cycle.
In this interview with Thom Hartmann, Sawant talks about her socialist convictions and what solidarity means for her.
